TEAM RANKINGS

TOP 10 GIRLS TEAMS

#1) LEE'S SUMMIT WEST – The Titans finished a very close second at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minnesota, one of the very best meets in the entire country. They beat a very strong Dowling Catholic squad that made it to Nike Team Nationals a year ago.

#2) WEST PLAINS – The Lady Zizzers remain at #2. It would be great to see them race LSW.

#3) EUREKA– Eureka, as they always seem to do, ran great at the Stampede where they finished second to LSW and topped some tough non-Missouri squads. They came back the next week and took home the title at Hancock.

#4) JEFFERSON CITY – The Lady Jays notched a big win at Rim Rock over some great regional competition. They had a little hiccup at Paul Enke but appeared to be without number one runner Brianna Watson.

#5) KICKAPOO – Dominant win at the Richard Clark Invite in which they took four of the top seven spots.

#6) LINDBERGH – Very nice run for the Lady Flyers at the Lakefront Invite in Chicago.

#7) LEE'S SUMMIT NORTH – The LSN girls produce another solid showing at a big meet with a fifth place performance at Rim Rock.

#8) CAPE CENTRAL – A dominating win at their home invite and a runner-up finish at Hancock pushes the ladies from Cape up one notch.

#9) FESTUS – Finished third at their home invite without Alyssa Allison.

#10) FRANCIS HOWELL CENTRAL – The only newcomers to the rankings, these ladies up-ended Jefferson City among others en route to their team championship at the Paul Enke Invite.

.............................................................TOP 10 BOYS TEAMS

#1) SLUH – With another big win at Rim Rock, the Junior Bills retain their spot at number one. Meanwhile they are ranked 17th in the country according to the Harrier Super 25. Look out below however.

#2) LEE'S SUMMIT WEST – Ladies and gentleman we have a contender for the boys Class 4 title that is not named SLUH. The Titans had an incredible two weeks by first winning at the Stampede over a solid bunch from Rogers High School in Arkansas. Then they traveled to Minnesota and took second at the prestigous Roy Griak Invitational ahead of nationally ranked Wayzata (MN) who are the defending Heartland Regional Champs.

#3) WEST PLAINS – The Zizzers drop a spot to number three by no fault of their own. LSW just looks really good right now.

#4) KICKAPOO – Kickapoo looked good in winning the Richard Clark Invite. The spread was not great but when your number one man goes 15:39 it is tough to have a very good one.

#5) LIBERTY – The Rim Rock results really made for some big changes in the rankings not the least of which was Liberty vaulting all the way to number five with their second place performance.

#6) LEE'S SUMMIT NORTH – The Broncos finished third at Rim Rock so they move up to number six in the rankings. This team is always tough and it looks like will once again be a trophy contender at State.

#7) COLLEGE HEIGHTS CHRISTIAN – The little engine that could keeps on rolling down the tracks. In less than 3 weeks they had three very solid races. First they dominated the small school race at the Stampede, then they finished fifth at Rim Rock within striking distance of third. Finally they swept their way to victory at the East Newton Patriot Invitational with an impressive 43 second spread.

#8) JEFFERSON CITY - The Jays lose a few spots after a sixth place finish at Rim Rock but are still solidly in the hunt as not much separates numbers four through eight in the rankings.

#9) ROCKHURST – Solid win at the Blue Springs Invite for the boys from Rockhurst.

#10) ROCK BRIDGE – This group ran very well at the Richard Clark Invite where they were only 18 points back of #4 Kickapoo.

INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS
10.03.08

All season long (though maybe not as often as the team rankings) we will try to keep an eye out for the top 15 runners in the State. Again, these are the top 15 regardless of Class. It is a lot easier to miss a runner or two so we apologize if we shorted you or your teammate. Feel free to email us at info@bigriverrunning.com if you know someone who should be on the Big River Top 15. Enjoy!!

TOP 15 GIRLS

#1) Emily Sisson, JR, Parkway Central – Sisson solidified her status as one of the best runners in the country with a big win at Rim Rock.

#2) Diane Robison, JR, Parkway Central – Robison was just 16 ticks behind Sisson at Rim Rock. Could one school have two Foot Locker finalists?

#3) Alyssa Allisson, SR, Festus - Allison was absent from Festus' home invite but she remains number three.

#4) Chelsea Phoebus, SO, Lee's Summit West- Phoebus moves from eight to four after besting St. Clair's Ashley Scott for the victory at the Stampede and then finishing a very impressive third at Roy Griak.

#6) Ashley Scott, SR, St. Clair - Scott was just a lean away from the win at the Stampede but she can take solace in the fact that her 18:27 is a fantastic time, even on a fast course.

#9) Megan Yohe, JR, Liberty - Yohe was third at Rim Rock and showed a lot of toughness against a tough field. The week before she was the individual champ at the Paul Enke Invite on a challenging Sioux Passage course.

#10) Taylor Hynes, SO, Lee's Summit North - The super sophomore made her debut for LSN after transferring from Notre Dame De Sion. She was mighty impressive with a huge win at the Blue Springs Invite where she won by well over a minute and then a fourth place showing at Rim Rock.

#11) Liz Reida, SO, Nixa - Reida makes a triumphant return to the rankings with a big win at the Richard Clark Invite in Springfield.

#12) Courtney Wood, SO, Neosho - Part of a fantastic 1-2 punch for Neosho Wood was clocked at the same time as her teammate Jessica Jackson at the Stampede and then took the title at the East Newton Patriot Invite a week later.

#13) Jessica Jackson, Neosho- She finished second to her teammate Wood at East Newton and they both ran well under 19 minutes two weeks in a row which is good no matter what the course.

#14) Sarah White, SO, Potosi - White won the Hancock Invite Class 3 division with ease one week after a 19:20 at the Fetsus Invite gave her a 46 second win there.

#15) Natalie Becker, SR, Parkway West - Becker rolled to victory at the Fox Invite in 19:44 after an uncharaterstic off day at the Paule Enke Invite where she still finished fourth.

#2) Danny Thater, JR, Kickapoo – Thater looked awfully impressive at the Richard Clark Invite, scoring a 32 second win over Chaminade's Matt Estlund. At the beginning of the year the Class 4 individual title looked up for grabs. Now it looks like we have a clear favorite.

#3) Nick Happe, SR, Francis Howell North – Happe rolled his way to two more wins at two presitigous invitationals. First he conquered the hills at Sioux Passage Park on his way to the Paul Enke title. He followed that up with a win at Hancock on the famous Jefferson Barracks course.

#4) Connor Callahan, SR, DeSmet – Callahan took home one of the most coveted titles of the regular season as he can now call himself the individual champ at Rim Rock.

#5) Kevin Colon, SR, Lee's Summit West- Colon moves up to number five after a solid second place showing at the Stampede where he bested Potosi's Nick Niggeman by six seconds. For good measure he finished third at the extremely tough Roy Griak Invitational in Minnesota.

#6) Nick Niggeman, SR, Potosi – Niggeman loses just one place in the rankings after getting bested by #5 Colon at the Stampede. He came back the next week and ran stride for stride with his teammate Jacob Swearingen at Hancock.

#7) Max Storms, SR, O'Hara – Storms will likely be in the top 10 all year long. A very tough competitor.

#8) Matt Estlund, SR, Chaminade – A now healthy Estlund finished second to #2 Thater at the Richard Clark Invite and is still on the upswing after recovering from a slight injury and an illness that had forced his DNF at Forest Park. Look out in the weeks to come.

#10) Phillip Palomino, SR, West Plains – Palomino remains at number 10 for another week.

#12) Michael Weis, SR, Lebanon – Weis remains in the rankings this week after running 16:00 at the Stampede.

#14) David McAdams, JR, Jefferson City -
McAdams nipped Cookson at Rim Rock where he finished sixth and earned his spot in the rankings.

#15) Stephen Saylor, SR, Raytown South – Saylor races this weekend at KC Metro and will likely move up in the rankings with a strong finish against come great competition.
