Boston Marathon, Boston, MA - 04.21.08 In what was arguably the best result by any member of the Big River Racing Team since its inception in 2006 Stephanie Hood ran a 15 minute PR of 2:44:44 to finish 10th place at the 112th running of the Boston Marathon. Steph ran negative splits over the tough hills of Boston and ran past many of the pre-race favorites over the last 10k to finish in 10th. Her finish earned her $4,200 and makes her an early contender for the Canadian Olympic Marathon team in 2012.
Vanderbilt Invitational, Nashville, TN - 04.19.08 Jeremy Doherty and Carter Snow ran in their final tune-up race before the Brigette Schutzman Festival of Miles with an 800 at the Vanderbilt Invitational. Jeremy finished second in the fast heat in a new PR of 1:51.01 while Carter won the second heat handily in 1:52.9, good for fourth overall.
Shakespeare Pizza Duathlon, Columbia, MO - 04.19.08 Maureen Conley was at it again this morning at the Shakepeare Duathlon in Columbia, MO. Maureen was the first female finisher and finished 27th overall in the long course division!
John Howard New Town Duathlon , St. Charles, MO - 04.13.08
The Big River Triathletes braved the cold this weekend for the John Howard Duathlon. Helen Alexander took top honors for females with Maureen Conley close on her heels in third.
GO! St. Louis Marathon and Family Fitness Weekend, MO - 04.06.08
What a great weekend it was for the sport of running and walking in St. Louis and the Big River Racing Team took advantage of the great weather and the great atmosphere.
On Saturday Justin Kunz won the 5k in 15:10 to kick off the two-day series of events. On Sunday the Team had an even bigger day in the Half and Full Marathon. On the womens side Masters Team Members Debbie Kerber-Rehr and Carol Wright both won their age groups with times of 1:33:15 and 1:33:21 respectively. Mary Loida (1:34:41) and Heather Kelley (1:43:45) both set PRs as well. For the open women it was Eliza Davis running a solid 1:30:50 coming off a bit of an injury that had kept her out of the St. Pats Race.
For the men it was brand new racing team member Karl Gilpin WINNING the Marathon in a course record of 2:24:51. Karl raced incredibly smart and ran negative splits en route to his second consecutive win on the streets of St. Louis. Check out the article here. Not too far behind Karl was Stephen Yates who ran his way to fifth place finishand a huge PR of 2:34:24.
Masters runner Steve Worley also ran a big PR of 2:57:51 to finish 15th overall. His Masters teammates Mark Palm, Mitch Figas and Jeff Vanderlinden all ran very well in the Half Marathon with Mark leading the way in 1:18:34 and 2nd overall masters. Mitch and Jeff were 1st and 5th in the 40-44 age group. Roger Endicott was 5th in the 50-54 age group.
The open men had a big presence in the Half Marathon placing three runners in the top ten. Newcomer Brian Grudowski was fifth, Brian Whitehead was seventh and Tim Bradley was ninth.

The Rez Run Saint Louis, MO - 03.23.08
For the second year in a row it was a Lyons family sweep at the annual Rez Run in Crestwood on Easter Morning. Brian took the Mens race over Big River teammates Brian Whitehead in second and Tim Bradley in third. Margaret Lyons was the womens champion. Brian and Margaret each won $125 for their efforts!
St. Patrick's Day Parade Run, Saint Louis, MO - 03.15.08
The Big River Racing Team was once again out in full force at the St. Patrick's Day Parade Run. For the second year in a row the team took top honors in the mens and womens individual races with Brian Lyons taking an exciting mens race in 24:27 and Stephanie Hood dominating the womens race in a course record 27:57!
Following Steph was Margaret Lyons who finished second among the women. Jess Flinn was 8th, Julie Bergfeld 10th (1st place masters), Jen Tesmer 12th, Helen Alexander-Kratz 14th (1st in her age group), Allie Baker 16th, and Carol Wright 21st (2nd in her age group). Katie Sutton, in the first race of her comeback, was 22nd place overall!
The men had an even closer pack, placing 10 runners in the top 16. After Lyons it was Justin Kunz in 3rd, Ben Rosario in 5th, Adam MacDowell in 6th, Drew Wyant in 9th, Carter Snow in 11th, Tim Bradley in 12th, Stephen Yates in 13th, Brian Whitehead in 15th and Mike Aitken in 16th. On the Masters side Mark Palm led the way with a second place finish followed by Mitch Figas in 3rd. Steve Worley took third in the Mens 45-49 year old age group.
Many of our white team members and our Training Team members raced as well and everyone did a fantastic job. Congrats to all!
Hong Kong Marathon, Hong Kong, China - 02.16.08
Julie Lossos ran a fantastic marathon in Hong Kong China this weekend, running 2:56:20 and placing second in her age category. Showing no ill effects from the long plane ride, she ran nearly even splits in setting a four minute PR for the 26.2 mile distance.
US Cross Country Championships, San Diego, CA - 02.16.08
Justin Kunz and Margaret Lyons both posted top 50 finishes at the US Cross Country Championships in San Diego on Saturday. The race is arguably the deeped and most competitive annual championship race in the country and both Justin and Margaret did a great job. Justin was 44th in the mens 12k and Margaret was 45th in the womens 8k.
Terrier Classic, Boston, MA - 01.26.08 Big River co-owners Matt Helbig and Ben Rosario were in Boston
on a business trip but were able to find time to enter the mile at the prestigious Terrier Classic at Boston University. Ben finished 7th in 4:06.68 (PR) and Matt was 10th in 4:10.16 (PR). Video here.
Redbird Invitational, Normal, IL - 01.19.08 The Big River Racing Team sent a big contingent to the Redbird Invite at Illinois State University this weekend. Carter Snow finished 1st in the mile with a 4:19 after leading nearly wire-to-wire. Ben Rosario, Brian Lyons, Justin Kunz and Jeremy Doherty ran the 3k with Rosario taking the victory in 8:18, another PR.
PF Chang's Rock N' Roll Arizona Marathon, Phoenix, AZ - 01.13.08 A big congrats to Carol Wright who kicked off the year right with a 3:15:49 marathon in Phoenix at the PF Chang's Rock n' Roll Marathon! Jeremy Hammer ran the half and finished in 1:19:31.
University of Missouri Invite, Columbia, MO - 01.11.08 Matt Helbig, Ben Rosario and Carter Snow traveled to Columbia to race indoors at the Mizzou Invite. Ben and Matt finished 1-2 in the mile while Carter was second in the 1000 meter run. Ben's time of 4:12.2 was a big PR. Video HERE.
US Club Cross Country Championships, West Chester, OH - 12.08.07 Each year the US Club Cross Country Chammpionships are one of the most anticipated events on the calendar for the best post-collegiate teams in the country. This was Big River's second trip to the championships and the men improved upon their ninth place finish from 2006 by finishing 7th in this year's race. The Big River women, making their first appearance at the Championships, were 21st while the mens B team was 34th. On the masters side the team was represented by Mark Palm and Mitch Figas who were 44th and 64th and in the mens 40-44 year old age group. Ben Rosario led the mens squad with a 20th place finish while the women were led by Margaret Lyons who finished 62nd.
Pere Marquette Trail Run, Grafton, IL - 12.08.07 The Big River Racing Team had a nice presence at the 19th annual Pere Marquette Trail Run in Grafton, IL. Stephen Yates was third overall, running 54:29 on the tough course. Newcomer Debbie Kerber-Rehr was the masters champion on the womens side while trail runner extraordinaire Steve Worley was third in the mens masters division.
St. Jude Memphis Marathon, Memphis, TN - 12.01.07 Julie Bergfeld was the Masters Champion at the
St. Jude Memphis Marathon on December 1st. Julie's time of 3:12:26 was a full seven minutes faster than the next female masters finisher. Congrats Julie!
Great River Road 10 Mile, Alton, IL - 11.24.07 Steph Hood raced to the win at the Alton 10 miler on Saturday. Her time of 58:58 was good for a two minute win over the next female finisher. Congrats Steph! On the Masters side it was Ray Battistini finishing third in his age group with a 1:09:00.
Kirkwood Webster Turkey Day Run, Kirkwood, MO - 11.22.07
The racing team was out in full force across the Midwest on Thanksgiving Day morning, running races in Missouri, Iowa, Ohio and Kansas. The majority of the team ran in the 25th annual Kirkwood Webster Turkey Day Run right here at home. It was a sweep on the womens side with Maureen Conley winning the 3 mile race in 18:24 and Julie Lossos winning the 6 mile. Masters runners Julie Bergfeld and Carol Wright also ran the 6 mile. The men also had a good day with Adam MacDowell taking the 6 mile victory in 30:53 and newcomer Jeremy Dougherty placing second in the three mile in 15:08. Joe Porter, Mark Palm, and Jeremy Hammer also ran the 6 mile. Matt Helbig and Carter Snow were fourth and fifth in the three mile and Mitch Figas was the first Master's finisher in 16:51. Congrats also to all of our White Team Members that ran this weekend and to all of you who decided to earn your Thanksgiving Dinner with an early morning stroll!!
Turkey Trot 5k, Springfield, MO - 11.22.07
The Lyons' showed they were the class of the field at the 13th annual Turkey Trot in Springfield, MO winning both divisions of the race. Brian ran 15:28 while Margaret came through in 18:09. The race had over 4,200 entrants and is one of the largest races of the year on the Springfield Race calendar. Nice job Brian and Margaret!
Chesterfield Turkey Trot, Chesterfield, MO - 11.22.07
Mike Aitken defended his title at the Chesterfield Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. His time of 16:01 was good for a 23 second win.
Davenport Turkey Trot, Davenport, IA - 11.22.07
Heather Kelley pr'd again with a 37:05 for 5 miles at the Davenport, IA. Her time was good enough for 4th place in the masters division.
Thanksgiving Day 5k and Family Stroll, Overland Park, KS - 11.22.07
Ben Rosario and Jen Tesmer made it a family affair at the aptly named Thanksgiving Day 5k and Family Stroll at the Sprint world headquarters in Overland Park, KS. Ben won the 5k in 15:22, his fiance' Jen Tesmer was third in the womens race (19:25) and Jen's parents walked the 5k in 43 minutes. Way to go Mike and Kathy!!
Thanksgiving Day Race, Cincinnati, OH - 11.22.07 Tim Bradley set a PR for 10k on his way to a 4th place finish at the 9th annual Thanksgiving Day Race in Cincinnati Ohio. His time for the 6.2 mile course was 31:50, showing his fitness for the upcoming Club Cross Country Championships.
Wentzville Turkey Trot, Wentzville, MO - 11.17.07
Racing Team Memeber Mark Palm blazed a 16:52 enroute to the overall champion title at this year's turkey trot. Mark was accompanied by his daughter Abby who was the age group champion over the 5k course in 22:52. SLU Turkey Trot, St. Louis, MO - 11.17.07 Tim Bradley and Joe Porter went 1-2 in this year's SLU Turkey Trot. Their times were 15:20 and 16:18. Tim's time narrowly missed the Big River Team Record by 5 seconds, a record he owns at 15:15.
Indie 5k, Austin, TX - 11.12.07
Matt Helbig was crowned the fastest running store owner in the country at the Indie 5k sponsored by The Running Event in Austin, TX. His 5k time of 16:08 over a hilly course outdistanced teh competition by over 15 seconds. Up next for Matt is the Kirkwood Turkey Trot.
St. Louis Track Club Half Marathon, St. Louis, MO - 11.11.07
Masters runners Rob Thames and Carol Wright picked up a big wins at the St. Louis Track Club's Half Marathon on Sunday morning. Both runners captured Masters Titles and 6th place overall! Rob ran 1:19:34 and Carol crossed the line at 1:33:38.
CTC Cross Country Challenge, Columbia, MO - 11.11.07 The
Big River Racing Team was out in full force this weekend at the Cross Country Challenge hosted by the Columbia Track Club. The team won the mens and womens titles in a race that served as a tune-up for the US Club Cross Country Championships in 4 weeks.
ING New York City Marathon, New York City, NY - 11.4.07 Rob Davidson came through the half in 1:20:16 en route to a time of 2:50:02 for the 5-bourough race. He placed 321st out of over 40,000 runners!
Bass Pro Fitness Festival, Springfield, MO - 11.3 & 11.4.07
Saturday saw a trio of Big River Runners post some excellect times down in Springfield, MO. Brian Lyons was second in the 10k with a time of 31:12 while Margaret Lyons and Maureen Conley placed 4th and 5th respectively in the 5k both running 18:06. On Sunday Kris Pearce was the winner of the Half Marathon in a time of 1:24:47. Glendale Firehouse 5M, Glendale, MO - 10.28.07

Helen Alexander-Kratz has been training well lately and
showed her fitness on the flats this year placing second overall in 41:27. New comer to the team Debbie Kerber-Rehr was a close third coming in with a time of 41:34.
Kansas City Marathon, Kansas City , MO - 10.20.07 Carol Wright was the 10th finisher overall at this year's KC marathon. Her time of 3:25 was good enough for first place in her age group and 2nd in the master's division. She now has plans to put her hot tub to good use:) Nice job Carol!
Twin Cities Marathon, Minneapolis, MN - 10.07.07
Brian Lyons returned to the Twin Cities to take another crack at qualifying for the Olympic Marathon Trials. A year ago, Brian just missed making the standard of 2:22 when he ran 2:22:34 at the 2006 Twin Cities Marathon. Unfortunately the brutally hot conditions (temperatures in the 80s) prevented Brian from reaching his goal and he was forced to jog it in in 2:36. Masters team member Rob Thames ran in the 10 Mile Race and finished ninth in his age group in 1:03:11. LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon , Chicago, IL - 10.07.07
In the worst weather in the history of the race (temperatures in the 80s), three Racing Team members bravely finished the race. Carter Snow had the most trouble with the heat but finished in 3:17:07. Stephen Yates broke the 3 hour mark (no easy task on this day) with a 2:59:27. Newcomer Dave Gutenkust ran very well and finished in 2:48:42, good for 105th overall!
SLU Law PILG Ambulance Chase 5k, Saint Louis, MO - 9.29.07
In one of the best-named races in the area, The Big River Racing Team represented well as Kal Clark and Jess Flinn won the overall mens and womens races and Helen Alexander-Kratz took home the female masters title.
City of Roses 5k, Cape Girardeau, MO - 9.23.07 Carter Snow, made his debut for the Racing Team today winning the City of Roses 5k in Cape Girardeau.
Race out of the Darkness 5k, St. Louis, MO - 9.23.07
Helen Alexander finished runner-up at this year's Race out of the Darkness in Forest Park. Her time was 20:26.
Des Peres Dash 5k, Des Peres, MO - 9.22.07
Adam MacDowell and Margaret Lyons were both victorious on Saturday's Des Peres Dash 5k. Adam broke his own course record of 15:47 running 15:41 while Margaret set her own course record in the process. Matt Helbig finished second behind Adam while Julie Berfeld and Heather Kelley finished 3rd and 5th respectively behind Margaret.
New Town Blast 5k, St. Charles, MO - 9.22.07 200 people finished the 2nd Annual Twilight 5K as part of the New Town Blast. Racing Team Member Stephen Yates won the men's race in a time of 16:11. Newcomer to the racing team Dave Gutekunst finished 2nd overall. Lewis and Clark Marathon/Half, St. Charles, IL - 9.16.07 Racing Team newcomer Steph Hood was the Women's Champion of the 2007 Lewis and Clark Marathon! Her time of 3:00:08 outdistanced the second place finisher by over 7 minutes and broke the old course record by over 6 minutes. This was her first time competeing at that distance! In the Half Tim Bradley finished second overall with a time of 1:11:37. Rob Davidson was fouth overall and was the Men's Master's Champion. Maureen Conley, Heather Kelley and Carol Wright also competed in the half marathon finishing third and seventh overall respectively in times of 1:25:22, 1:47 and 1:33:35. Carol was also the Master's Champion!
Shoreline Classic, Decatur, IL - 9.16.07 Eight Members of the racing team were in action including Ben Rosario, Justin Kunz, Margaret Lyons, Brian Lyons, Jen Tesmer, Julie Lossos, Adam MacDowell and Kris Pearce. On the women's side Lyons was the highest finisher placing 4th followed by Pearce (7th), Lossos (8th), and Tesmer (9th). Rosario placed 4th followed by Kunz (5th), Lyons (7th) and MacDowell (8th). Before the Race Rosario was inducted into the Shoreline Classic Hall of Fame for his support of the race over the past 5 years.
USAT National Club Championships, Innsbrook, MO - 9.16.07 Helen Alexander-Kratz placed third overall at the USAT National Club Championships on Sunday.
Run for the Hills, St. Louis, MO - 9.15.07 Joe Conley was the individual champion of the 2007 Run for the Hills. It was a close race with Joe out sprinting Dustin Pearce at the line for the win. Joe Porter finished thrid overall.
Brentwood 5K, Brentwood, MO - 9.15.07 Kal Clark won his first race as a member of the racing team followed by Ben Glass, Brian Whitehead and Jeremy Hammer. The foursome finished 1-2-3-4 respectively. Glass had the early lead until taking a wrong turn and losing a few valuable seconds, which landed himself in second behind Clark. Nice job boys!
Forest Park Cross Country Festival, St. Louis, MO - 9.8.07 Racing Team members Tim Bradley, Ben Glass and Newcomer Drew Wyant swept the first three podium positions at the Forest Park Cross Country Festival 4k Open Race. Intern John finished fourth before leaving for school for the fall semester. On the Women's side Maureen Conley finished just ahead of a closing Kris (Woolf) Pearce finishing 1st and 2nd respectively.
JCC Labor Day 5k/10k, Creve Coeur, MO - 9.4.06 Julie Lossos (39:56) was the only woman to duck under the 40-minute barrier at this year's JCC Labor Day 10k. She placed first overall among women.
Lake St. Louis Triathlon, Lake St. Louis, MO - 9.1.07 Maggie and Maureen were at it again this weekend at the Lake St. Louis Triathlon. Maureen placed 3rd overall with the days fastest run split averaging 5:49 per mile for the 10k run. Maggie placed 6th overall with the third fastest run split of the day!
Mid August Meltdown Triathlon, Mattoon Beach, IL - 8.19.07
The Conley Twins went 1-2 in the womens division at the Mid August Meltdown Olympic Distance Triathlon in Mattoon Beach on Sunday morning. Maureen finished up in 2:23:12 and Maggie came in at 2:28:36.
Crohn's 5k, Saint Louis, MO - 8.19.07
Joe Porter, in his first race since the Spirit of St. Louis Marathon and a recent surgery, won the Crohn's 5k in Forest Park. Congrats to Joe!
St. Louis Track Club Cross Country Kickoff, Saint Louis, MO - 8.4.07
The Big River River Racing Team was out in full force at the St. Louis Track Club's Cross Country Kickoff. The womens "A" team finished first and scored only 12 points with Margaret Lyons, Maureen Conley Julie Lossos and Maggie Conley. The womens "B" team of Julie Bergfeld, Kris Woolf, Jen Tesmer and Helen Alexandr-Kratz finished in third place. In the mens masters division it was Pete Palumbo, Mark Palm, Rob Davidson, Steve Worley and Mitch Figas taking home the team title. Big River also defended its championship in the mens open division. This year the team went 1-3-5-8-9 for a winning total of 26 points. Ben Rosario won the race and was followed by Justin Kunz, Brian Whitehead, Adam MacDowell, Tim Bradley, Matt Helbig and Jeremy Hammer. Also, a big congrats and thank you go out to all of you who supported us by wearing you Big River gear during the race. Everyone competed well on a hot morning!
Conley Twins continue to compete well all over St. Louis -
Maggie and Maureen Conley have been making quite a name for themselves on the roads as well as on the St. Louis Triathlon circuit over the past few years. This summer has been a good one for both of them. Maureen placed fifth at the St. Peters Tri with Maggie just thirty seconds back in sixth. Maggie was 18th at the very competitive Innsbrook Tri. The twin were back at it together at the Matoon Beack Tri on July 7 placing second and third. On July 21 Maureen showed that all these tris haven't slowed her down on the running side of things as she placed second at the Easter Seals 5k, running 18:30. The twins will be in action again this weekend at the St. Louis Track Club's Cross Country Kickoff.
Wildwood YMCA 5k, Wilwood, MO - 7.29.07
Brian Whitehead pulled off a nice double by winning the Wildwood YMCA 5k on Sunday morning after placing second at the Mississippi Mile yesterday.Mississippi Mile, Saint Louis, MO - 7.28.07
It was a good day for the Racing Team on the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge. Pete Palumbo ran 4:43 to win the mens masters division. Helen Alexander Kratz defended her title with a 6:05 to win the womens masters division. Ben Rosario won the open mens division with a course record time of 4:19, breaking Matt Helbig's 4:20 from 2006. Brian Whitehead ran 4:31 to capture second.
Okoboji Marathon, Okoboji, IA- 7.21.07
Congratulations to Mike Nelson for winning the Okobokji Marathon. Mike ran 2:53:53, an average of 6:38 per mile on the hot course. Mike now holds the distinction of being the first member of the Big River Racing Team to WIN a Marathon!
Missouri River 8k, St. louis, MO- 7.15.07
Julie Lossos notched another win, this time at the 31st annual Missouri River 8k. Her time was 33:20 on the challenging course.
Schnucks Salmon Run, St. Louis, MO - 7.8.07
Julie Bergfeld took home second place honors and first masters at the inaugural Schnucks Salmon Run. She posted a time 26:08 for the 4 mile course. Mark Palm was second on the masters mens side and finshed seventh overall with a time of 22:45. Hannibal Cannibal 5k, Hannibal, MO- 7.7.07

Alliant Energy Fifth Season 8k, Cedar Rapids, IA- 7.4.07
Dish Dobson has moved to Iowa but is still running for Big River and finished in an excellent time of 34:33 for 29th overall female in the highly competitive field.
Blake Boldon, who now runs for Saucony but is still a part of our club team ran and finished 14th among the men in 24:44.
Firecracker 3k, Steelville, IL - 7.4.07
Pete Palumbo put another award on the mantle with a masters win and sixth place overall at the Firecracker 3k in Steelville, IL in 10:02.
St. Clair Freedom Festival 5k, St. Clair, MO - 6.30.07 Julie Lossos went under 19:00 again for 5k, running 18:57 to finish first place at the St. Clair Freedom Festival 5k. Her run was not only good enought to win the women's title but also placed her third overall!
Kirkwood-Webster Connection Run 5k, Saint Louis, MO - 6.24.07 Tim Bradley defended his title at the always fast Kirkwood-Webster Connection Run on Sunday. He posted a winning time of 15:15. Mike Nelson was sixth overall, Mark Palm was second in the masters division and Julie Lossos ran a personal best of 18:30 in the womens race.
Crestwood 5k, St. Louis, MO-
Julie Bergfeld won the 5k at Whitecliff Park with a time of 19:28. Julie is now back on track after some injury troubles earlier this year.
Heroes Run 5k, Saint Louis, MO - 6.23.07 - Brian Whitehead took home top honors in the Heroes Run 5k in Forest Park with a time of 16:06.
Steamboat Classic 4 Mile, Peoria, IL - 6.16.07 Annually one of the strongest fields assembled in the Midwest, this year's Steamboat Classic 4 mile was no disappointment. Leading the way for the Big River contingent was Margaret Lyons finishing 9th with a time of 23:18. On the Men's side 4 cracked the top 25 with Ben Rosario (18:58) finishing 13th, Brian Lyons (19:22) 16th, Justin Kunz (19:25) 18th and Tim Bradley (20:27) in 22nd. Brian Whitehead placed 5th in the 15k with a time of 51:35 and Jen Tesmer was 29th in the womens 4 mile in 26:05.
USATF Region 9 Championships, Edwardsville, IL - 6.10.07 Pete Palumbo ran wire-to-wire for the victory in the mens 40-44 1500 at the Championships. His time of 4:29 currently ranks him 12th in the country as he prepares for another trip to the US Masters Track and Field Championships.
Saturn Midwest Distance Solution, Hillsdale, MI - 6.9.07 Brian and Margaret Lyons and Ben Rosario traveled north over the weekend to race on the track at the Saturn Midwest Distance Solution. Margaret ran 16:52, a personal best by over a minute, to get 4th in the women's 5k. Brian and Ben were 7th and 8th in the men's 5k.
St. Louis Track Club One Mile, St. Louis, MO - 6.5.07
Speedster Pete Palumbo took home another first place honor by winning the mile at the St. Louis Track Club's One Mile Run. Palumbo led from the gun to win the 40+ division race in 4:50.
Palumbo named to MVC All-Centennial Teams, 6.4.07 Masters team member Pete Palumbo was honored today as one of the Missouri Valley Conference's all-time best today. Palumbo was one of 47 Illinois State athletes to receive such recogntion. Click on the link above to read a full press release.
Make Tracks for the Zoo, St. Louis, MO - 6.3.07 Big River narrowly missed the double podium sweep as the women went 1-2-3 and the men went 1-2-5. On the women's side Margaret Lyons was the first woman to cross the line followed closely by Julie Lossos and Kris Woolf. Meanwhile Brian Lyons and Brian Whitehead went 1-2 with Mike Nelson finishing a close 5th.
Need for Speed 8k, Chesterfield, MO - 6.3.07 With about 24 hours of rest Tim Bradley managed another victory at Sunday's Inaugural Need for Speed 8k. His time of 25:52 outdistanced a field of over 130 runners. Carol Wright finished 3rd overall and was the first Master across the line in a time of 33:21.
Hospital Hill Run, Kansas City, MO - 6.2.07 A Rosario sweep in the 10k, well almost. Ben Rosario and fiance Jen Tesmer both won the Hospital Hill 10k! Ben finished with a time of 31:00 while Jen finished with a time of 41:32 two minutes ahead of the nearest competitor.
Taste of Tilles 5k, St. Louis, MO - 6.2.07
Tim Bradley, defending his home course (he lives a block from the park), finished first in this year's Taste of Tilles 5k in a time of 15:46.
Memorial Day 5k and 10k, University City, MO - 5.28.07 Tim Bradley was the first runner to cross the line at this year's Memorial Day 10k followed by newcomers to the team Rob Davidson and Ray Battistini. Less than an hour later Julie Lossos, Mike Nelson and Matt Helbig raced the 5k finishing 2nd, 5th and 3rd respectively. The race drew over 1,000 competitors in both races.
Memphis in May, Memphis, TN - 5.20.07 Maggie and Maureen Conley both placed in the top 5 of their age group at a Midwest Triathlon Classic: Memphis in May. Maureen was 2nd while Maggie was 4th.
Epiphany Run for the Stars, St. Louis, MO - 5.12.07 Tim Bradley ran away with the victory at this year's inaugural Run for the Stars. His time of 15:28 was a good effort considering the difficulty of the hilly course.
Run for Sight, St. Louis, MO - 5.6.07 Racing Team members Tim Bradley, Ben Glass, and Mike Aitken participated in Sunday's Run for Sight. Tim's time of 15:36 was right at 5:00 per mile pace and was good enough to top this year's podium. Newcomer Ben Glass made a nice debut for the team placing second (15:50) and Mike Aitken completed the Big River sweep placing third (16:06) just seconds behind Glass.
Steamboat Classic Triathalon, Cape Girardeau, MO - 4.29.07
Maggie and Maureen Conley and Helen Alexander-Kratz represented the team well this weekend at the Steamboat Classic Sprint Distance Triathalon (450 meter swim, 15.5 mile bike, 5 mile run). Maureen was the third overall female and first in her age group. Maggie was fifth overall female and Helen placed second in her age group.
Trolley Run, Kansas City, MO - 4.29.07
The Lyons family was at it again this weekend with Brian placing fourth in the mens race and Margaret placing fifth in the womens race at the most competitive race in Kansas City, the Trolley Run 4 miler. Brian ran 18:50 and held off former Arkansas Razorback Nephi Tyler for the last money spot. Margaret showed she is reaching near personal best form by running 21:58 (sub 5:30 pace). Look for the husband and wife duo to face off against each other in Thursday Night's "Battle of the Sexes" 2 mile at CBC High School.
SIUE Twilight Meet, Edwardsville, IL - 4.28.0
- Allie Baker ran a 5k PR of 18:41 to finish second place under the lights at the SIUE Twilight Meet on the beautiful SIUE Campus.
Run for Research 5k, St. Louis, MO - 4.28.0 Jen Tesmer was the first woman across the line at this year's Run for Research. She was also the Overall 5k Champion with a time of 20:05.
Spring Wellness Festival 10K, Cottleville, MO - 4.28.07 Carol Wright and Matt Helbig took home first prizes this year at the 15th annual St. Charles Community College Spring Wellnesss Festival.
Drake Relays, Des Moines, IA - 4.27.07

Rez Run 7, Crestwood, MO - 4.8.07 Big River went 1-2-3 in both the Men's and Women's Divisions at this years Rez Run. It was a frosty Easter morning but the winning times were as fast as ever. Brian Lyons placed first followed by Tim Bradley and Matt Helbig, while on the women's side Margaret Lyons took home the top prize followed by Kris Woolf and Helen Alexander-Kratz. Also racing for Big River was Blue Team member Carol Wright and White Team member C.J. Watson.
Brew to Brew Relay, Kansas City, MO to Lawrence KS - 4.1.07 This year's race was a battle against the elements as teams from all over the midwest faced a brutal 25 mph headwind for the entire 42.5 mile relay. The Men's Team of Brian Lyons, Tim Bradley, Matt Helbig, Mike Nelson, and Ryan French placed 1st out of 417 teams with at time of 4 hours and 4 minutes. Meanwhile the Women's Team of Margaret Lyons, Katie Sutton, Dish Dobson, Jen Tesmer and Jenna Boerboom won the Women's Open Division by almost an hour with a time of 4:54 and placed 4th overall!
Missouri Relays, Columbia, MO - 3.30.07 Katie Sutton took it to the track at the MU Relays Friday Night, racing 5000 meters under the lights. Katie finished fifth out of 38 competitors with a time of 17:48. She'll be back at it again running in the Brew to Brew Relay on Sunday.
Kappa Delta Shamrock Shuffle, St. Louis, MO - 3.24.07 This year's shamrock shuffle had a family twist as the Lyons' of the Big River Racing Team swept both Men's and Women's races. Margaret won the women's 5k while Brian won the Men's race.
St. Patrick's Day Parade Run, St. Louis, MO - 3.17.07
The racing team had a great day at this year's parade run winning both the Men's and Women's Races! Ben Rosario was first overall with a time of 24:00, :52 seconds ahead of the second place finisher! Katie Sutton ran 29:27 for the five mile race averaging just under 5:54 a mile. The Women's Team performed great putting 5 members in the top 9, while the men put three in the top 7 and 10 in the top 30.
USA 8k Championships, New York, NY - 3.18.07
Blake was back at it again this weekend running in the 8k National Championships in New York's Central Park. The race, which was originally scheduled for St. Patrick's Day, was postponed one day due to weather. Blake had a good race finishing 14th overall with a time of 23:28.

Iowa State University NCAA Qualifier, Ames, IA - 3.3.07
Blake Boldon continued to tear up the track running his first SUB-FOUR minute mile at Saturday's ISU NCAA Qualifier! His time of 3:59:18 was not only a PR in the event but was all the more impressive considering the next closest competitor was over 10 seconds behind him! Congratulations Blake!
USA Indoor Track and Field Championships, Boston, MA - 2.24.07
Blake Boldon ran a lifetime PR and placed 4th overall at the years Indoor National Championships! His time of 7:57.67 was over a three second PR!
St. Louis Track Club Frostbite Series, St. Louis, MO - 2.24.07 Katie Sutton hit the trifecta winning for the third straight race in a row. Her 5k time of 18:27 was great after battling with the wind, rain and COLD! Tim Bradley also had an outstnading performance in the unhospitable weather clocking a time of 15:49 good for second on the Men's side. The Master's race was a close one between Team Members Mitch Figas and Mark Palm. Mitch finshed only 12 seconds ahead to take home the Master's title. Their times were 17:22 and 17:45 respectively.
Mizzou All Comers Meet, Columbia, MO - 2.17.07 Pete Palumbo made the trip to Mizzou to test his fitness and the tight turns of the 200m Hearnes Center Indoor Track. His time for the mile was 5:02.04 was good for second while his 800m time of 2:18.48 placed him 4th.
St. Louis Track Club Frostbite Series, St. Louis, MO - 2.10.07
Katie Sutton started right where she left off two weeks ago winning the Women's 3 mile. Helen Alexander-Kratz took the second Master's position in her first race back from injury with Christine Bugnitz close behind in third. On the Men's side Joe Porter and Mike Nelson placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 3 mile. The final 2007 frostbite series race will be in two weeks.
St. Louis Track Club Frostbite Series, St. Louis, MO - 1.27.07
Top honors went to Katie Sutton and Margaret Lyons in the 4 miler, as they went 1-2 respectively. This was Margaret's first official race after returning from the birth of her first child, Lilly. One the Men's side, Mitch Figas took home his first Master's Win in the 4 mile. It was his first race after turning 40 in December. Phoenix Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon, Pheonix, AZ - 1.14.07 Maureen and Maggie Conley made the trip down to sunny Phoenix to compete in this year's half marathon. They ran well finishing 2nd and 4th respectively in their age group and 8th and 22nd overall. Their times for the 13.1 mile distance were 1:24:33 and 1:31:39.
US Half Marathon Championships, Houston, TX - 1.14.07 Jen Tesmer faired well competing in the US Half Marathon Championships in Houston. She placed 22nd in her age group and 49th overall with a time of 1:32:39! Congrats Jen.
St. Louis Track Club Frostbite Series,St. Louis, MO - 12.30.06 Congrats to Allie Baker and Mike Aitken for their runner-up performances at the second installment of the St. Louis Track Club's Frostbite Series. Allie ran the 10 mile in 1:07:45 and Mike ran the 2 mile in 10:04.

Endurance Trail Run, Alton, IL - 12.09.06 Masters runner and trail runner extraordinaire Steve Worley tackled the popular Pierre Marquette Trail race on Saturday and finished 3rd in the Masters division in 1:02:28. That time was also good for 18th overall and first in the 45-49 year-old age group.
St. Louis Track Club Marathon Relay, St. Louis, MO - 12.3.06 While fighting the cold and wind at this years SLTC Marathon Relay the Women's Open team of Helen Alexander-Kratz, Maggie Conley, Maureen Conley, Christine Bugnitz (PIC) were victorious winning the title on the women's side. The 2 Men's Open Teams finished 2nd and 5th with team members: Tim Bradley, Joe Porter, Matt Helbig, Adam MacDowell Ryan Mee, Joe Conley, Mitch Figas and special guest Dan Muntges.
Memphis Marathon, Memphis, TN - 12.02.06 Katie Sutton ran a twenty-one minute pr at the St. Jude Memphis Marathon, crossing the line in a superb 2:57:54. Congratulations to Katie who is the hardest-working person we know!
Great River Road Run, Alton, MO - 11.25.06 Maggie Conley and Katie Mannhard participated in this years Alton 10 miler. Conley finished 2nd overall in the female divisionwith a time of 1:04:19, while Mannhard finished 4th in her age group with a time of 1:17:59.
Chesterfield Turkey Trot, Chesterfield, MO - 11.23.06 This years race had over 1700 toe the line and Big River's Mike Aitken took home first place with a time of 15:43. Maureen and Maggie Conley placed 3rd and 4th in the female race with times of 18:06 and 18:09. Steve Worley ran a PR for the distance in a time of 17:43!
99th Annual Turkey Day Race, New Orleans, LA - 11.23.06 Adam MacDowell took home the Turkey Day First Prize in Bayou Country. His time of 24:42 over the five mile course was over 50 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
Race For Home 5k, St. Louis, MO - 11.11.06 Allie Baker took home first place honors at the Race For Home 5k at Trailnet's Riverfront Bike Path. Her time for 5k was 19:30, a PR for that distance.
Chicago Marathon, Chicago, IL - 10.22.06 Joe Porter was the sole member of the racing team in Chicago this past weekend. He battled the weather along with 40,000 other runners completing the 26.2 in 2:42:38 averaging 6:12 per mile. This was his second marathon after running the St. Louis Marathon this past spring.
Wild in the Woods #3, Matson Hill Park, MO - 10.21.06 Maureen Conley placed 2nd overall (1st female) in the half marathon race at the third edition of this year's Wild in the Woods. She covered the 13.1 miles in 1:25:27, averaging close to 6:30 per mile! Allie Baker was also in the competition, racing the 10k. She was the second female across the line in 48:59.
Des Moines Marathon, Des Moines, IA - 10.15.06 Alan Heincker made a strong showing at the Des Moines Marathon this weekend placing 4th overall in a time of 2:34:45. There were over 1000 finishers in the full marathon. Alan averaged 5:55 over the 26.2 mile course.
Ivory Crockett 4 Miler, Webster Groves, MO - 10.7.06 The Big River Racing Team made a strong showing at the Ivory Crockett 4 miler finshing 1-2 in both men's and women's races. On the men's side Adam MacDowell was the overall winner in a time of 20:03 followed by Matt Helbig in second place (20:16). Maureen and Maggie Conley finished in that order to take home the women's championship and runner-up. Their times for the 4 mile course were 24:00 and 24:10. Article of the race.SIUE Border Wars, Edwardsville, IL - 10.7.06 Allie Baker competed at the annual Border Wars cross country meet at SIUE and ran very close to her PR as she crossed the line in 19:55 for the full 5k.
Twin Cities Marathon, Minneapolis, MN - 10.1.06 A big congratulations goes out to Big River Racing Team Member Brian Lyons who ran a superb time of 2:22:34 for 12th place at the US Marathon Championships in Minneapolis. Lyons narrowly missed out on qualifying for the 2008 US Olympic Trials Marathon (sub 2:22) but we are quite sure he'll make it next time around. Brian will be writing a race recap for us soon so check back and make sure you read about what it's like to run 5:26 per mile for 26.2 miles!
Purina Dog Chow 5 Miler, St. Louis, MO - 9.31.06 Katie Sutton and Allie Baker went 1-2 on the streets of downtown St. Louis at the Purina Dog Chow 5 miler. Sutton covered the course in 31:04 and Baker came across the line in 33:22. On the men's side Joe Conley was fourth in 28:49. *** The course was actually a bit long.
Oktoberfest 10 miler, Augusta, MO - 9.23.06
Racing Team Members Matt Helbig and Joe Porter finished second and fifth at the first annual Oktoberfest 10 miler. Helbig ran a time of 53:50 in his first effort at the distance.
Des Peres Dash 5k, Des Peres, MO - 9.23.06 Adam MacDowell took home top prize at this year's Des Peres Dash 5k. His winning time was 15:47.
Lewis & Clark Marathon and Half Marathon , St. Charles, MO - 9.17.06 Katie Sutton and Julie Bergfeld finished 1st and 5th in the Lewis and Clark Half Marathon in St. Charles. This was Julie's first race as a member of the Big River Racing Team and it was yet another victory for Katie who has established herself as the top female in St. Louis. In the marathon Big River Racing Team members Jon-Paul La Venture and Steve Worley finished 7th and 8th overall, only 7 seconds apart! Their respective times were 3:04:51 and 3:04:58. This was Jon-Paul's marathon debut, while Steve was the second place finisher in the Master's Division
Italian Fest 5k, Collinsville, IL - 9.16.06 Pete Palumbo took home 3rd overall at this year's Italian Fest 5k. His time of 17:32 was also good for 1st overall in the Master's Division.
Shoreline Classic 15k, Decatur, IL - 9.16.06 Ben Rosario and Alan Heincker returned to this year's Shoeline Classic for another go at it. This time around Ben placed third with a time of 47:05 for the 15k course (9.3 miles). Alan placed 9th with a time of 48:15.
Forest Park Cross Country Festival 4k Open, St. Louis, MO- 9.9.06 Joe Conley returned to action today in the Forest Park Cross Country Festival 4k Open race. Joe placed second overall in a time of 13:25.
JCC Labor Day 5k/10k, Creve Coeur, MO - 9.4.06 Mike Aitken was the 5k Champion at this years JCC Labor Day Race. He averaged 5:04 per mile on the hilly course to finish in 15:43. His time was over 30 seconds faster than the nearest competitor.
Park Forest Scenic 10 Mile, Park Forest, IL -9.4.06 Brian Lyons and Ben Rosario battled a deep field of Kenyan Runners at this years Park Forest Scenic 10 Mile. Brian was the second American to cross the line (13th overall) in 50:02 while Ben (16th overall) was a few ticks back in 50:25.
St. Libory 5k, St. Libory, IL - 9.2.06 Pete Palumbo won the masters division and finished second overall at the St. Libory 5k with a time of 17:14. Palumbo is just now kicking off his fall racing season after a successful summer track campaign.
Purple/White Alumni Race, Kirksville, MO - 9.2.06 Matt Helbig won this years edition of the Purple/White Truman State Alumni race. He covered the 4 mile course, held at Thousand Hills State Park, in 20:16. Fellow Big River Racing Team member Alan Heincker finished 3rd overall in a time of 20:30. Race recap.
WIU Early Bird Invite, Macomb, IL - 9.1.06 Tim Bradley finished 2nd overall at this years WIU Early Bird Invite. He covered the 6k course in 18:52 finishing behind Thomas Tate of Universtiy of Iowa. Results HERE

USA Masters Championships Charlotte, NC - 8.6.06
Big River's Pete Palumbo finished 6th in the 1500 meters at the USA Masters Track and Field Championships in Charlotte, NC. Palumbo, competing in the 40-44 year-old age group ran a 4:27 which equates to about a 4:45 mile. Results here.
Cross Country Kickoff 5k, Forest Park, MO - 8.5.06
The Big River Racing Team was out in full force this weekend capturing the Men's team title at this year's Cross Country Kickoff. Led by Ben Rosario (1st place), the team put all five members in the top 10 edging out Team WCW by three points. Ben's time of 14:46 broke the old course record (set by fellow BR team member Alan Heincker) by over 30 seconds!
Mississippi Mile, Chain of Rocks Bridge, MO - 7.29.06 Matt Helbig closed strong over the last 400 meters to edge out fellow Big River Racing Team members Brian Lyons, Ben Rosario, Adam MacDowell and Joe Conley for the win at this year's Mississippi Mile. Big River Racing Team members swept the top four places with Conley finishing in the top 10. Helbig's time of 4:20 was a course record, with Lyons finishing second in 4:24. The race was a tune up for the Cross Country Kickoff held the following weekend.
Missouri River 8k, Chesterfield, MO - 7.16.06
Joe Porter placed second overall with a time of 29:25 at this years race.
L6 Foundation 5k, Chesterfield, MO - 7.15.06 Tim Bradley outdistanced over 750 runners in the inaugural edition of the L6 Foundation 5k. He averaged 5:04 per mile completing the 3.1 mile course in 15:42.
Midnight Madness, Ames, IA - 7.15.06 Katie Sutton braved the hot and humid condition saturday night placing 5th overall amongst a stacked field at this years race. With conditions in the low 90's at race time, Katie completed the 10k course in 37.54.
Hannibal Cannibal, Hannibal, MO - 7.1.06 Mike Aitken crossed the line first at the famous (for its hills) Hannibal Cannibal race
in Mark Twain's hometown. Aitken won the 5k in 16:32.
Kirkwood-Webster Connection Run, St. Louis, MO - 6.25.06 Katie Sutton was the first female finsher, placing 10th overall with a time of 17:09 over 5k. Tim Bradley was the overall winner with a time of 15:22. See results HERE.
Grandma's Marathon, Duluth, MN - 6.17.06 Ben Rosario led the charge for the Big River Racing Team at the 30th installment of Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, MN. He placed 15th overall in 2:27:49. Alan Heincker and Mike Nelson also completed the race finishing 29th and 77th respectively. Alan covered the 26.2 mile distance in 2:36:11 while Mike came home in 2:49:34.
Steamboat Classic 4M, Peoria, IL - 6.17.06 Brian Lyons and Matt Helbig both broke the top 20 at the this year's edition of the Steamboat Classic 4-miler. This year's elite field included a number of Olympic and World Class athletes. Lyons finished 14th overall in 19:47 while Helbig finshed 19th in 20:19. The overall win was John Korir who covered the 4 mile course in 18:16!
Run for the Stars 5k, St. Louis, MO - 5.20.06 Big River Racing Team member Alan Heincker averaged around 5:15 per mile in his victory in the 2006 version of Run for the Stars 5k. His time of 16:15 was enough to outdistance almost 300 competitiors in the race!Tennessee Distance Solution, Nashville, TN - 5.13.06 Another PR for Big River's Ben Rosario. This time Rosario set a 10k best of 29:44 on the track at Vanderbilt University. After being paced through halfway, Ben ran on his own for the second half of the race to the big victory.
Delta Gamma Run For Sight, St. Louis, MO - 5.7.06
The winning streak continues for Big River's Katie Sutton who sped to first place at the Delta Gamma Run For Sight in Downtown St. Louis. Katie ran the 5k course in 17:44, adding this title to her victories at the National City Spirit of St. Louis Half Marathon and The St. Louis Track Club Half Marathon earlier this year.
Big River Elite 2-Mile Challenge, St. Louis, MO - 5.4.06 Big River Racing Team member Ben Rosario pulled away from fellow team member Brian Lyons over the final 100 meters of the Big River Elite 2-Mile Challenge to win 8:56 to 8:58.
