THE 2008 FOREST PARK CROSS COUNTRY FESTIVAL WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 13th. CHECK BACK SOON FOR MORE INFO!!

...........................................................................................................................................................

The Forest Park Cross Country Festival is back! In 2006, this meet saw more than 1,100 athletes from 44 teams compete in a meet unlike any other in the St. Louis area. Athletes, fans and spectators were treated to a first-class presentation of our sport the way it should be- FUN! A spectator-friendly course, competitive fields and a meet announcer bringing the action to life made this meet one of the best in the Midwest in 2006.

The 2007 edition is going to be bigger, better and should solidify the Forest Park Cross Country Festival as a premier meet in our area and across the region. Once again, the meet will be sponsored by Big River Running Company and hosted by St. Louis University High School . New this year will be a first-rate meet program with full results and records from 2006 as well as pictures from the inaugural year. We will also have team trophies in all divisions, and there will be extra divisions if necessary.

The 2007 course will remain the same (European Style 2k loops) and the schedule of events will remain similar though upon the request of several coaches the junior varsity boys will run 5k this year. A tentative schedule of events is listed in this packet. Also, the team entry fees will remain at $60 for a boys or a girls team with a $100 fee for schools entering a boys and a girls squad. New this year will be additional fees for extra teams of seven in the junior varsity and freshman divisions. Each additional team of seven will require a $20 payment and each additional individual runner beyond seven in those races will be $5. Schools will still be able to run nine runners in the varsity races.

All meet information will be posted on bigriverrunning.com and any questions regarding the event can be directed to Big River Co-Owner Ben Rosario at 636.394.5500 or at ben@bigriverrunning.com. Please fill out the attached interest sheet to assure your team a spot in this meet. All interested teams will be contacted with further details by the end of the 2007 track season. Thank you so much and we hope to see you next September!

Sincerely,

The Forest Park Cross Country Festival Committee.

This is a Festival! We will have a wide variety of food, snacks, and drinks including a full BBQ at our concession stand. Big River Running Company will be selling shoes and apparel on location. Meet t-shirts will also be sold and will be in high demand. The shirts are long-sleeve Tech Shirts with the meet logo prominently displayed on the front. The shirts retail for $28 but will be sold for $25 at the meet. We expect them to go quickly so if you or your athletes are interested in purchasing a shirt we recommend pre-ordering by August 24th.

Out of Town Teams:
The Forest Park Cross Country Festival is a regional meet and we want to make teams from outside the Saint Louis feel right at home. We are asking our local teams to sign up to be HOST schools for out-of-town teams that would like to compete in the meet. Hosting duties would include your runners and their families' having an overnight guest or two at their home on Friday night and providing them transportation to the meet the next morning. It is a wonderful opportunity for the athlete's to meet runners from other areas and create a brand new friendly rivalry for the next morning. Interested in being a host school or interested in coming from out-of-town and being hosted ? Please email Ben Rosario at ben@bigriverrunning.com. If you would rather stay in a hotel please call our host hotel:

The Holiday Inn Hampton Avenue (5 minutes from Forest Park): 314.645.0700
- Make sure and ask for the Forest Park Cross Country Festival Rate.
