St. Louis Running and Walking Trails
TRAIL DESCRIPTION: The main trail system at Queeny Park is used heavily by walkers, runners, cyclists and equestrians. This 569-acre park has 7.8 miles of trails, 1.5 miles of which are paved. Back in the hilly, wooded sections of the park there are additional miles of horse trails with some more technical sections.
This park provides habitat for eagles, hawks, songbirds, turkey, doves, quail, shorebirds, herons and waterfowl. Deer, rabbits and squirrels also abound. Bluegill, carp, catfish and crappie are plentiful.
The trails offer a little bit of everything from paved sections, open meadows, hills; both gentle and steep, to heavily wooded sections.
WHY WE LIKE IT: Queeny is a great place to do some trail running and walking. The trails are well maintained and the footing is generally even and smooth. The trails are well away from roads and are usually quiet and peaceful. The trails are usually runable during rain and dry very quickly unlike some of the other local parks. Come summer, the mostly shaded trails are a great place to escape the heat. Big River's Group Runs and Walks run here weekly. Hope to see you there!
